A Meaningful ANZAC Day Experience on the Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast Turf Club ANZAC Day Races return on Saturday 25 April, delivering one of the region’s most significant and well‑attended commemorative events.

This annual raceday offers more than racing. It provides a respectful, inclusive space for the community to come together, honour those who served, and take part in long‑standing ANZAC Day traditions, all trackside.

Commemorative Service Before the First Race

Proceedings begin with a trackside ANZAC Day commemorative service at 1:40pm, prior to the first race. A minute’s silence will be observed across the course, creating a shared moment of reflection before the raceday gets underway.

For many on the Sunshine Coast, this service has become a meaningful alternative or addition to early‑morning dawn services, offering connection, ceremony and community in a setting that welcomes families and friends.

Full Raceday Program + Two-Up

Following the service, guests can enjoy a full afternoon racing program, with the first race at 2:19pm and the final race at 6:09pm.

A dedicated Two-Up arena, hosted by Scott Hillier, will operate on course, continuing one of ANZAC Day’s most recognised traditions in a controlled and respectful environment.

Supporting Veterans on the Sunshine Coast

Poppies will be available on the day in support of Veterans Wellbeing Foundation Sunshine Coast, reinforcing the Club’s ongoing commitment to local veterans and their families.

Over the past three years, Sunshine Coast Turf Club has built strong ties with veteran support organisations, ensuring this raceday delivers both meaningful recognition and practical community support.

A Raceday Built on Respect

CEO of Sunshine Coast Turf Club, John Miller, says the event continues to grow in importance for the region:
“ANZAC Day holds deep significance for our community, and it’s a privilege for the Sunshine Coast Turf Club to provide a place where people can come together to remember, reflect and connect. This raceday is about respect, remembrance and supporting the organisations that continue to care for our veterans.”
The atmosphere throughout the day remains relaxed, respectful and family‑friendly, making it suitable for all ages while preserving the importance of the occasion.
